This led her to take a 3-year degree in Sport Rehabilitation and Sport Science at St Mary's University in Twickenham. As well as covering all areas of training physiology and psychology, the degree-covered anatomy, sport massage, rehabilitation techniques, hydrotherapy, movement analysis, strength and conditioning, biomechanics of movement and all musculoskeletal aspects involved in training. She is also a full member of BASRaT (British Association for Sport Rehabilitation Therapists) www.basrat.org.
Samantha then took an ITEC Diploma in Aromatherapy to expand her knowledge on the holistic side of treatment and rehabilitation. After graduating, she gained practical experience in the sport and leisure industry as a fitness instructor, prescribing specialist exercise programmes for clients from novice to advanced level. She then joined Medifix, London's leading musculoskeletal healthcare company as a Rehabilitation Therapist. Within this practice, she worked for both the NHS and private sector, along with a team of physiotherapists, podiatrists and osteopaths. During this time, it became clear to Samantha that good posture and 'core' stability were vital for safe training and long-term health and this encouraged her to study Pilates with the Australian Pilates and physiotherapy institute. Samantha now presents for the APPI across the UK. Samantha also understood how vitally important a person’s nutrition is for their health and well being and studied with the metabolic typing institute to become a metabolic typing practitioner. Samantha has also advanced her passion for soft tissue techniques by recently becoming qualified as a fully certified St John’s Neuromuscular Therapist.
Samantha opened up Arch Health and Fitness in May 2002 and divides her time between the studio and lecturing at St Mary’s university in sport rehabilitation. Samantha has toured with performance artists and pop starts within the UK and currently works with a number of professional athletes from golf to rugby.
Samantha is a keen sports women and very much enjoys using her experience and knowledge to positively motivate others and ultimately help them achieve their goals.
