St. Johns Neuromuscular Therapy

The St. John Method of Neuromuscular Therapy is a proven, highly effective treatment for helping to rid the body of pain such as TMJ dysfunction, headaches, whiplash neck pain, sciatica, scoliosis, shoulder, hipand many other soft tissue injuries associated with chronic and acute musculoskeletal dysfunction. St. John Neuromuscular Therapy is a comprehensive program of soft tissue manipulation techniques that aim to balance the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves) with the structures and form of the musculoskeletal system (skeleton and muscles of the body). Our bodies work very hard on a daily basis to maintain homeostatic balance (righting reflex) which can cause trigger points and ischeamic areas to develop thus causing us pain and discomfort. The body will keep placing itself in dysfunction (forward head posture, rotated shoulders, hip/knee joint problems) in attempt to maintain equilibrium and eyes balanced with the horizon. The St. John Neuromuscular Therapy aims to identify these areas of dysfunction and locate and release spasms and hypercontraction in the tissues: eliminate trigger points that cause referred pain; restore postural alignment, proper biomechanics and flexibility to the soft tissues; rebuild the strength and assist venous and lymphatic flow.

We also offer specific rehabilitation and Pilates techniques at Arch Health and fitness to supplement this effective method of treatment to ensure that the body stays strong and balanced, minimising biomechanical dysfunction and faulty movement patterns.
